5 Themes Of Geography
The five themes of geography help to analyze the world by showing how people interact with other people and the environment and the patterns that they show. I think this because all of the themes show what people have in common and what landforms have in common. For example, the exact coordinates of Boston Massachusetts are 42.36008°, -71.05888°. This shows theme and how people interact because it shows relative location and where this specific location is. Another example is Sydney Australia which has many human features and some of them are the opera house, sydney harbor bridge, and many beaches. This shows theme because all of the examples describe what the area is like. A different example is that China exports $385 Billion of goods to the United States. This shows theme because it shows how China moves goods to difference places. Another example is Hurricane Harvey in Texas has caused many people to adapt to their environment. For instance, some people lost their power and did not get it back for weeks so the had to adapt to a powerless life for a while. This shows theme because adapting to environment is part of human and environment interaction which is what these people had to do. Lastly, a small population of people in Africa speak Spanish but a large population of people speak English. This shows the theme of region because it is describing how the are is defined by common characteristics. Place was the most difficult theme for me to understand because I got a little confused about what would be considered as a human characteristic. For example I didn’t know if paved roads would be a human characteristic or a physical characteristic. Also, at first I was getting place confused with region because they both include human and physical characteristics.

ReplyDeleteYour blog post made me understand more about the 5 themes of geography. I agree that place is the most difficult and region is confusing. I get them mixed up because they both include physical and human characteristics. However this post made me less confused about these things.
